The Owl who was Afraid of the Dark Chapter 4 Comprehension for Whole Class Guided Reading includes differentiated questions and activities based on chapter three of the popular story by Jill Tomlinson.* We recommend using this novel with Year 2. In chapter 4, Plop has woken up during the day again and Mrs Barn Owl wants some peace. She sends Plop to go and speak to a little girl. The little girl does not believe that Plop is an owl which makes Plop cross. Plop asks the little girl if she likes the dark and she explains it is necessary, otherwise Father Christmas wouldn't be able to come and give all the children their Christmas presents. Plop tells her that he doesn't have a stocking for Father Christmas so the little girl gives him one of her socks. Plop is grateful and they become friends. He takes the stocking back to his landing branch, but tells his mum that he still doesn't like the dark!
