Pride Reading Skills - Julian is a Mermaid

This Pride Julian is a Mermaid Reading Skills resource contains a range of questions about the book ‘Julian is a Mermaid’ by Jessica Love. The questions are organised into content domains to allow a focus on one or more specific reading skills. There are also three SATs style questions to allow your children to get used to seeing questions in this layout and practise the skills needed to complete these types of questions.

This resource has been organised in two different ways to give teachers flexibility with the way the text is covered.

Teaching Approach A: This section contains questions covering the whole text.
Teaching Approach B: Questions in this section are the same as in Teaching Approach A, but are organised into several smaller groups. Each group of questions is focused on a smaller part of the text to allow the text to be covered in sections over time.
As this book covers themes of acceptance and differences, we anticipate that further discussions could be had based on the questions presented here. As a someone who knows your children well, you can adapt and lead the conversations to wherever is appropriate for your class.
