Please note that we do not have reading skills resources for every chapter of this book. Every effort has been made to ensure a wide range of questions have been included in the chapters we have resourced, covering each content domain.

Whether you like to explore every reading content domain when doing a guided reading session, or prefer to focus on one or two, you will find what you need in this Rooftoppers Chapter 16 guided reading pack! As the name suggests, it covers the whole of chapter 16 of Rooftoppers by Katherine Rundell and provides an abundance of comprehension questions to use as you read. There are questions for every reading domain, arranged by type, and also a selection of our written answer practice questions. These are designed to help children become familiar and confident answering the sorts of things they could face on a SATs reading paper.

Answers are provided for everything in the pack, to make life easier for you. The questions can be used for whole class guided reading, or for sessions with smaller groups. The choice is yours!

• English Year 5 & Year 6: Maintain positive attitudes to reading and understanding of what is read.
• English Year 5 & Year 6: Understand what they read by exploring the meaning of words in context; drawing inferences and justifying inferences with evidence; predicting what might happen from details stated and implied; summarising the main ideas drawn from more than one paragraph and identifying key details that support the main ideas; and identifying how language, structure and presentation contribute to meaning.
