This EYFS Big Garden Bird Watch Provision Enhancement resource includes a range of practical activities all about garden birds. Children can build a nest in different ways, model their own bird, make a bird feeder or binoculars, and count the 'worms'. With links to maths, motor skills and the natural world, pupils have the opportunity to develop a range of skills.

It covers the following objectives for children in reception:

Ask questions to find out more and to check they understand what has been said to them
Use talk to help work out problems and organise thinking and activities, and to explain how things work and why they might happen
Develop their small motor skills so that they can use a range of tools competently, safely and confidently. Suggested tools: pencils for drawing and writing, paintbrushes, scissors, knives, forks and spoons
Count objects, actions and sounds
Explore the natural world around them
Return to and build on their previous learning, refining ideas and developing their ability to represent them
