As an introduction to the Shape topic, children can use our EYFS Comparing Size Activity to begin to describe the size of different objects. A range of themed images have been used here, rather than shapes, to get children familiar with using 'big' and 'small'.
Children will cut the objects and sort into the two hoops based on size. You could also extend children to use comparative language and model its use in sentences i.e 'the pumpkin is bigger than the snowflake'. Why not have sorting hoops in the classroom with a range of objects for children to sort practically?
