Introduce children to doubling with our EYFS Doubling Learning Activity. This resource enables children to develop their understanding of the concept of doubling. Encourage children to use physical resources to aid the calculation process and record their learning either by writing the number or drawing a representation.

It covers the following objectives for children in reception:

(M-21) Count objects, actions and sounds.

(M-22) Subitise.

(M-28) Automatically recall number bonds for numbers 0-5 and some to 10.


Curriculum Objectives

  • Have a deep understanding of number to 10, including the composition of each number
  • Subitise (recognise quantities without counting) up to 5
  • Automatically recall (without reference to rhymes, counting or other aids) number bonds up to 5 (including subtraction facts) and some number bonds to 10, including double facts
