This EYFS Hey Diddle Diddle provision enhancement resource includes a variety of activities for enhancing provision in the classroom. Children will enjoy activities such as recreating the rhyme, making instruments and using a spoon to count, all whilst supporting independent or adult-led play across 6 different areas of provision. Each card includes helpful advice as well as questions that could be asked to prompt discussion.


Curriculum Objectives

  • Participate in small group, class and one-to-one discussions, offering their own ideas, using recently introduced vocabulary
  • Use a range of small tools, including scissors, paint brushes and cutlery
  • Have a deep understanding of number to 10, including the composition of each number
  • Explore the natural world around them, making observations and drawing pictures of animals and plants
  • Safely use and explore a variety of materials, tools and techniques, experimenting with colour, design, texture, form and function
  • Share their creations, explaining the process they have used
  • Sing a range of well-known nursery rhymes and songs
  • Perform songs, rhymes, poems and stories with others, and, when appropriate, try to move in time with music
