An image of the London Bridge Number Bonds Resource

This EYFS London Bridge number bonds activity helps to develop children's understanding of number bonds to 10. Children will use the numeral cards to build the bond to make the number on the top of the bridge. There are blank cards included with the resource so that it could be extended to number bonds beyond 10. The activity could be completed practically with concrete resources to help ensure children fully understand the concept.

It covers the following objectives for children in reception:

Count objects, actions and sounds

Link the number symbol (numeral) with its cardinal number value

Automatically recall number bonds for numbers 05 and some to 10

Curriculum Objectives

  • Have a deep understanding of number to 10, including the composition of each number
  • Automatically recall (without reference to rhymes, counting or other aids) number bonds up to 5 (including subtraction facts) and some number bonds to 10, including double facts
