Grab your wellies and umbrellas, we're diving into Spring with our EYFS Guess How Many resource! This learning activity enables children to develop the skills of estimating and subitising. They are encouraged to guess how many images they can see, for example three flowers. The adult should allow children to quickly see the image before hiding the card to prevent children from being able to count! Children shout out their guesses, or record on whiteboards, before the adult turns the card over to reveal the numeral. Children compare their estimate to the actual number of objects.
It covers the following objectives for children in reception:
(M-22) Subitise.
(M-23) Link the number symbol (numeral) with its cardinal number value.
