Looking for a Christmas-themed Maths activity for the festive period? Our KS1 and KS2 Christmas Shape Cottages is ideal! This resource tests children's recognition of different 2D and 3D shapes. Children will use a key to identify the shapes and colour them with the correct colour. This resource has six differentiated levels to choose from! An example answer has also been provided to support each level.

National Curriculum Objectives:

  • Mathematics Y1: (1G1b) Recognise and name common 2-D and 3-D shapes, including:

(1G1a) 2-D shapes [for example, rectangles (including squares), circles and triangles]

3-D shapes [for example, cuboids (including cubes), pyramids and spheres]

  • Mathematics Y2: (2G2a) Identify and describe the properties of 2-D shapes, including the number of sides and line symmetry in a vertical line
  • Mathematics Y2: (2G1b) Identify and describe the properties of 3-D shapes, including the number of edges, vertices and faces
  • Mathematics Y3: (3G3b) Draw 2-D shapes and make 3-D shapes using modelling materials; recognise 3-D shapes in different orientations and describe them
  • Mathematics Y5: (5G3b) Identify 3-D shapes, including cubes and other cuboids, from 2-D representations
  • Mathematics Y6: (6G3b) Recognise, describe and build simple 3-D shapes, including making nets
