In this story Stanley's stick is not just a stick. With a stick in hand, Stanley's options are endless - he flies to the moon, writes in the sand, goes fishing, plays a whistle and rides a dinosaur - and his imagination takes over and the magic begins.
This resource can be used individually, in groups or as a class and, where needed, content domains can be separated out and focused on, or all the domains can be covered collectively.
National Curriculum Objectives:
- English Year 1: Understand both the books they can already read accurately and fluently and those that they listen to by drawing on what they already know or on background information and vocabulary provided by the teacher; discussing the significance of the title and events; making inferences on the basis of what is being said and done; and predicting what might happen on the basis of what has been read so far.
- English Year 1: Develop pleasure in reading, motivation to read, vocabulary and understanding by being encouraged to link what they read or hear to their own experiences
