This KS1 Rise and Read resource includes four reading activities all about the NHS. It is suitable for use in Years 1 and 2 and could be displayed on the whiteboard as early morning work, used in reading sessions or even as a fun stimulus in assemblies. However you choose to use it, children will not only sharpen their reading skills but also learn more about the National Health Service in Great Britain.

The pack includes two information texts (one about the creation of the NHS and one about the modern NHS), a letter and an image. These lead to questions which focus on a variety of reading skills: retrieval, purpose, vocabulary, inference, prediction and summarise. There is also an assessment-style question too.

This resource does not require any printing, as it has been specially designed to be displayed on the whiteboard.
