Explore the world of Queen Elizabeth I's royal court with this KS1 Time Travel Adventure. Designed to be used after teaching our KS1 Kings and Queens History Unit, this resource will immerse pupils in the goings on in the royal court in 1588.

The resource begins with a role play prompt for the whole class that is designed to be read alongside our Time Travel Adventure - Kings and Queens Soundscape.

There are then five activities for pupils to engage in:

  • Immersing: pupils identify artefacts from the era and consider their impact on the senses.

  • Becoming: pupils swap modern and historical artefacts.

  • Considering: pupils make decisions based on historic understanding.

  • Planning and Reporting: Pupils plan a weekly diary and write a postcard to send home.

  • Reflecting: Draw the most significant memories from their week in London.

This resource is a fun way to end our Kings and Queens history unit and, as it's linked to our history objectives, it's also a great way to assess pupils' understanding of the topic. For each activity, there are support and stretch suggestions to ensure all pupils can participate.
