Learn about the sun and other light sources with this Year 3/4/5 Light and Shadows Guided Reading Pack. Pupils will discover examples of natural and man-made light, before exploring how light travels and how shadows are made. We've carefully created a range of different questions to assess children's understanding, along with vocabulary and GPS activities. Our resource can be used in individually, in pairs or in small groups.

- asking questions to improve their understanding of a text;

- drawing inferences such as inferring characters’ feelings, thoughts and motives from their actions, and justifying - inferences with evidence;

- identifying main ideas drawn from more than one paragraph and summarising these;

- identifying how language, structure, and presentation contribute to meaning;

- retrieving and recording information from non-fiction;

- participating in discussion about both books that are read to them and those they can read for themselves, taking turns and listening to what others say.
