In 2026, the festival of Navratri runs between the 11th and 20th of October. This KS2 Rise and Read Navratri resource includes four reading activities focused on this Hindu festival. It is suitable for use in Years 3 to 6 and could be displayed on the whiteboard as early morning work, used in reading or RE lessons or even as a stimulus in assemblies. However you choose to use it, children will not only sharpen their reading skills but also learn more about this Hindu festival.

The pack includes an information text, a letter, an image and a newspaper report. These lead to questions which focus on a variety of reading skills: retrieval, vocabulary, inference and prediction. There is also an assessment-style question which focuses on giving evidence from the text.
