Recreate and debate one of British history's most famous battles with our KS2 The Battle of Hastings Practical Activities resource. The Battle of Hastings took place on 14th October 1066, when William of Normandy defeated the king Harold Godwinson and changed England's history forever. Four exciting and engaging activities are provided to get children thinking more deeply about the tactics used in battle, the difficult decisions made for England's future and the way it has been remembered through history.
For the debate activity, evidence cards have been provided to stimulate discussion and help children put themselves in the shoes of the Witan, the council who oversaw England's rule during this crucial time.
Use it as part of a History lesson, to commemorate the Battle of Hastings or to inspire children to think more deeply about events of the past in a fun, practical way.
