This informative KS2 What Happens to my Rubbish? Teaching PowerPoint helps pupils explore the journey of waste from the moment it is thrown away. Suitable for use as a classroom lesson or as an assembly, it explains what rubbish is, where it goes and the difference between recyclable materials and general waste. Pupils will learn about the recycling process, how different materials are sorted at recycling centres and transformed into new products, and what happens to waste that cannot be recycled, including landfill and energy recovery. The presentation also explores the environmental impacts of waste, the importance of reducing, reusing and recycling and encourages children to think about the choices they make every day. It includes a range of follow-up activity ideas to help reinforce learning and inspire positive environmental action.
