National Fitness Day Whole School Assembly PowerPoint is a slideshow that celebrates being active and reminds children that every movement counts. The content includes 12 slides with teacher notes, covering what National Fitness Day is, why fitness matters, fitness for everyone, different ways to be active, inspirational people, Usain Bolt, Ellie Simmonds, staying active at school, small choices that make a big difference, a National Fitness Day challenge and follow-up activities. It links to PE and PSHE learning about health and wellbeing.
Why being active helps our hearts, muscles, bones and mood, and how fitness can mean walking, dancing, swimming or playing with friends, with questions such as "Why is it important that everyone can join in?"
The determination behind Usain Bolt's sprinting success and Paralympic champion Ellie Simmonds, asking "Can you think of a time when you kept trying even though something was difficult?"
Movement breaks, playground games and walking part of the way to school, ending with "What small active choice could you make this week?"
Our whole school assemblies are PowerPoint slideshows that follow a similar structure: an introduction, questions to get children thinking, the key points of the topic and reflection time. They're paced to suit a primary school assembly and work best on a whiteboard, projected out to the hall. You can use them:
The majority of our assemblies include teacher notes and guidance to support delivery, and because they're pacey, you can adapt them to however long your assembly lasts.
Every assembly is editable, so you can add, remove or change slides to suit the needs of your school. We cover religious events, seasonal topics, values such as kindness, friendship and tolerance, science, history, PSHE, music, significant people and sporting events, so you can choose the assemblies that fit your school year.
Families can carry the conversation on at home by asking children about their assembly: what they heard, how it made them feel and what they think about it.
