Explore China, 1210 BCE during the Shang Dynasty with this UKS2 Time Travel Adventure - The Shang Dynasty resource. Designed to be used after teaching our UKS2 The Shang Dynasty History Unit, this resource will immerse pupils in the ancient world!

The resource begins with a role play prompt for the whole class that is designed to be read alongside our Time Travel Adventure - The Shang Dynasty Soundscape.

There are then five activities for pupils to engage in:

• Immersing: pupils identify artefacts from the era and consider their impact on the senses.

• Becoming: pupils swap modern and historical artefacts.

• Considering: pupils make decisions based on historic understanding.

• Planning and Reporting: Pupils plan a weekly diary and write a postcard to send home.

• Reflecting: Pupils answer questions based on their time travel experiences.

This resource is a fun way to end our Shang Dynasty history unit and, as it's linked to our history objectives, it's also a great way to assess pupils' understanding of the topic. For each activity, there are support and stretch suggestions to ensure all pupils can participate.
