Explore England in the 1850s with this UKS2 Time Travel Adventure - The History of Railways resource. Designed to be used after teaching our UKS2 The History of Railways History Unit, this resource will immerse pupils in the old world!

The resource begins with a role play prompt for the whole class that is designed to be read alongside our Time Travel Adventure - The History of Railways Soundscape.

There are then five activities for pupils to engage in:

• Immersing: pupils identify artefacts from the era and consider their impact on the senses.

• Becoming: pupils swap modern and historical artefacts.

• Considering: pupils make decisions based on historic understanding.

• Planning and Reporting: Pupils plan a weekly diary and write a postcard to send home.

• Reflecting: Pupils answer questions based on their time travel experiences.

This resource is a fun way to end our The History of Railways history unit and, as it's linked to our history objectives, it's also a great way to assess pupils' understanding of the topic. For each activity, there are support and stretch suggestions to ensure all pupils can participate.
