Use our Year 1 Addition and Subtraction within 20 Provision Enhancements to extend pupils' understanding of numbers to 20 in their self-directed learning. These activity cards cover a range of different provision areas including maths, water and construction. It covers different objectives including number bonds and adding by making 10.

Use the 'advice and ideas' section to support with setting up each activity. It may also be useful to share with the other adults in your class.

  • Read, write and interpret mathematical statements involving addition (+), subtraction (–) and equals (=) signs
  • Solve one-step problems that involve addition and subtraction, using concrete objects and pictorial representations, and missing number problems such as 7 = __ 9
  • Compare and order numbers from 0 up to 100; use <, > and = signs
