This Year 1 Leaving Spaces between Words Prior Learning worksheet covers nouns and is a fantastic resource to use to assess children's spelling of these items relating to a pet dog.

Using four images, children are asked to label the noun being shown in each image. Use this resource as a way to assess children's prior knowledge before moving on or alternatively, this could be used for those children who are less confident with spelling.
