Subtraction on a Number Line needn't always be on paper! Our Year 1 Subtraction on a Number Line Practical Activities provide children with opportunities to explore subtraction across a range of areas. Children will use sand, water, construction and more to practise the skill of counting back on a number line. Each task comes with clear and concise advice and ideas as well as colourful visuals for children.
Curriculum Objectives
- Read and write numbers from 1 to 20 in numerals and words
- Identify and represent numbers using objects and pictorial representations including the number line, and use the language of: equal to, more than, less than (fewer), most, least
- Solve one-step problems that involve addition and subtraction, using concrete objects and pictorial representations, and missing number problems such as 7 = __ 9
