Baseline Assessment 6

Start your half-term as you mean to go on with this Year 2 Baseline Assessment 6 for your spelling records. This assessment is set out similarly to those that children will encounter during their end of key stage assessments. We've chosen this format to support children when they are faced with these assessments and because it is an easy-to-use set-up.

The assessment itself contains a variety of question types to assess pupils understanding of basic spelling rules and patterns.

This particular assessment covers the following objectives or content domains:

S37 - Common exception words Pack 4

The possessive apostrophe (singular nouns)

S35 and S13 - Words ending in tion and days of the week

S36 - Homophones and near-homophones Pack 1

S36 - Homophones and near-homophones Pack 2

S37 - Common exception words Pack 5

It's an ideal resource for you to use at the start of your term to find out what children already know. You could use the same assessment at the end of the term to show progress too. We've included a teacher's script that replicates those found in end of key stage assessments. There's and simple marking scheme that works well with the teacher's script and an information page at the end to show which content domains are linked to each question, and there's a run-down of all the content domains for Key Stage 1 as well.
