In this Year 2 Count Money - Pounds (Notes and Coins) Teaching PPT, children will practise counting pounds (£1, £2, £5, £10, £20, £50) to work out the value of a set of notes or coins with totals less than £100. They will also explore calculating the total of a mixed set of notes and coins, building on their understanding of number patterns and how different note and coin values relate to one another.

The content is organised into Let’s Learn sections, where key concepts and mathematical language are clearly modelled, and Let’s Practise sections, where pupils can apply their learning through short, engaging activities.

To deepen understanding, the PPT includes reasoning and problem-solving questions, giving children opportunities to use their coin-counting skills in a variety of contexts.

The final slide provides links to additional resources to support this step - be sure to check them out!
