Encourage children to apply their knowledge of addition to an in-depth problem-solving activity by using our Year 3 Add 10s Across a 100 Discussion Problem. This resource includes two open-ended questions that can be used multiple times for children to put their understanding to the test. We would recommend children have a secure understanding of adding tens by crossing 100 with problem solving before they attempt these questions.

Use as a challenge activity in class in a small group or as a paired activity. Alternatively, this can be used in an intervention group to offer additional challenge for children, or display one of the questions on the screen to open up the discussion in a whole class situation. An example answer is included for children to compare their answers to, or use this as a teaching tool to address any misconceptions.
