Are your children finding division a disaster? Worry no more! Why not use this Year 3 Divide a 2-Digit Number by a 1-Digit Number No Exchange Supporting Activity resource? We've created an easy-to-follow activity that utilises equipment found in your classroom to bring a hands-on approach to learning. By using manipulatives, such as place value counters, children will become more confident in dealing with the abstract concept of division.

This activity is easy to set up and pack away. It can be used in small groups or pairs within the classroom or as part of an intervention program. Alternatively, this activity could be used as a starter to your lesson too. An example work through is provided on the resource so that any adult in the classroom can complete this activity with your class.


Curriculum Objectives

  • Recall and use multiplication and division facts for the 3, 4 and 8 multiplication tables
  • Write and calculate mathematical statements for multiplication and division using the multiplication tables that they know, including for two-digit numbers times one-digit numbers, using mental and progressing to formal written methods
