This Year 4 Calculate Quantities Reasoning and Problem Solving resource will allow your pupils to secure their understanding of how to calculate the whole when given a fraction of a quantity. There are two reasoning questions and one problem solving question.

In the first reasoning question, pupils are supported by a representation. In the second question, they have the opportunity to explain the steps required to complete the calculation. In the third problem solving question, they apply their knowledge to a problem with more than one answer.

An answer sheet is provided to assist busy teachers with quick and easy marking and pupils with self marking.
