Direct Speech Prior Learning

Worksheet
An image of the Direct Speech Prior Learning Resource

Get your class prepared to use direct speech by using this Year 4 Direct Speech Prior Learning worksheet. The questions are based on a year 3 objective where children are required to recognise direct speech, and it can be used as a stepping stone into the new learning that will take place later in this lesson. There are three varied fluency questions, two reasoning questions and an application question all on this ready-to-complete worksheet.

Use this resource at the start of your lesson to check what children already know about direct speech. Alternatively, this could be used the day before to inform you of who would need additional support or extra challenge in your main lesson. There's an added answer page included to help you speed through your marking, or give it to children to use as a peer or self-assessment tool.
