This Year 4 Divide a 3-Digit Number by a 1-Digit Number Teaching PPT helps children extend their division skills to 3-digit numbers. Using place value counters and part–whole models, pupils explore flexible partitioning and exchanges to build their understanding of division. The step starts with divisions that have no remainder and moves on to problems with remainders.

The content is organised into Let’s Learn sections, where new strategies and vocabulary are modelled, and Let’s Practise sections, where children can immediately apply their learning through short, focused activities.

To deepen understanding, the PPT includes reasoning and problem-solving questions, giving children opportunities to apply their knowledge in a variety of contexts. The final slide provides links to additional resources to support this step – be sure to check them out!
