This Year 4 How Do We Hear Sounds? Worksheet helps pupils explore how sound travels through the ear and is processed by the brain. Pupils draw a diagram of the ear and write a clear paragraph describing each stage of hearing, from sound waves entering the ear to the brain recognising the sound.

Pupils can complete this activity independently, in pairs, or as part of a small group, with plenty of opportunities to discuss their reasoning and explain their scientific understanding. This task supports the use of accurate scientific vocabulary and helps pupils consolidate their knowledge of how we hear.

This activity works brilliantly alongside our Year 4 How Do We Hear Sounds? Investigation lesson.
