

This Year 4 Producers, Predators, Prey or Decomposers Worksheet supports children in developing their understanding of how living things are grouped within a food chain and wider ecosystem. Children will sort a variety of organisms into key categories: producers, prey, predators and decomposers, helping them to recognise the different roles living things play in sustaining life within a habitat.
Pupils will carefully consider each organism and decide where it belongs, with opportunities to discuss how some living things may fit into more than one group. This encourages deeper thinking about feeding relationships, survival and the balance of ecosystems.
This activity can be completed independently or as part of a paired or group task.
