Use this Year 4 Round to the Nearest Whole Numbers Reasoning and Problem Solving resource to give your pupils a chance to apply what they know about rounding decimal numbers to problem solving.

The first two questions are problem solving questions which require children to think of more than one solution. In both cases, they will have to use what they know about rounding to reach their answers. The third question requires them to think carefully about a statement in order to decide whether it is correct. They then have to explain their thinking using mathematical vocabulary. Each question has two similar parts to encourage confidence.

An answer sheet is included to help teachers with marking and pupils with self marking.

A varied fluency resource is also available for this small step.
