We're getting into the real meat and veg of the year now; the good stuff that really sustains you. So now's as good a time as any to see how your class are getting to grips with the main course, with this Arithmetic tests for Year 4 Spring 1 pack. The resource is differentiated six ways, with a number of different objectives covered in each test (the more challenging the test, the more objectives covered) and focuses on skills such as multiplying by 9, by 7, adding 1,000 to five-digit numbers and more.


Curriculum Objectives

  • Find 10 or 100 more or less than a given number
  • Add and subtract numbers mentally, including: three-digit number and ones; three-digit number and tens; three-digit number and hundreds
  • Add and subtract numbers with up to three digits, using formal written methods of columnar addition and subtraction
  • Solve problems, including missing number problems, using number facts, place value, and more complex addition and subtraction
  • Recognise, find and write fractions of a discrete set of objects: unit fractions and non-unit fractions with small denominators
  • Find 1,000 more or less than a given number
  • Add and subtract numbers with up to 4 digits using the formal written methods of columnar addition and subtraction where appropriate
  • Recall multiplication and division facts for multiplication tables up to 12 × 12
  • Use place value, known and derived facts to multiply and divide mentally, including: multiplying by 0 and 1; dividing by 1; multiplying together three numbers
  • Add and subtract fractions with the same denominator
