This Year 4 Tenths as Decimals Teaching PPT introduces your class to decimal numbers of less than one.
The carefully designed learning sequence starts by showing how tenths as a fraction can be represented using a bar model and written as a decimal number. This progresses onto using a number line and, finally, a place value chart. The purpose of the decimal point is clearly explained, and they see how to exchange ten tenths for a whole.
Each step is followed by a chance for you to assess their understanding with a practice question, and there is both a reasoning and problem-solving question to challenge children at the end of the presentation.
The final slide provides links to our other resources in this step to make your planning easy and quick.
