This Year 5 Compare and Order Numbers to 100,000 Teaching PPT is the ideal resource to support children as they develop skills in ordering larger numbers.

The sequence begins by recapping how to compare numbers using >, < and = symbols, using place value charts to support understanding. The sequence shows pupils how to compare numbers with a different number of digits, before demonstrating how to list numbers in ascending or descending order. Comparing numbers in different representations (including Roman numerals) is also covered in the resource.

Use it as part of your whole-class introduction to help order numbers up to 100,000, or use it as a recap for children needing a confidence boost with place value.

Questions are asked throughout the PowerPoint to enable children to use and apply their knowledge and understanding in a variety of different ways. Answer pages are provided to support independent marking. A reasoning and problem solving question are available at the end to give children the opportunity to apply their skills.
