Now that your class are confident finding the area of rectangles, use this Year 5 Compare Area of Rectangles Varied Fluency resource to take them onto the next step - comparing the area of two rectangles.

In the first two questions, they find the area of two rectangles and then compare them using comparison symbols. In the last question, they are provided with the area of a rectangle and have to draw one which is either smaller or larger. Each question has two similar parts to promote fluency.

The questions in this resource are spread over two pages to allow plenty of space for children to work. Sheet 1 shows an a set and sheet 2, a parallel b set.

An answer sheet is provided for busy teachers and pupils who may be marking their own work. A reasoning and problem solving resource is also available for this small step.
