Use this Year 5 Degrees in Angles and Turns Reasoning and Problem Solving resource to give your class the opportunity to apply their knowledge of angles and turns to problem solving.

The first question is a reasoning question which makes them think about the number of degrees between points on a compass as well as the terms 'clockwise' and 'anti-clockwise'. In the second and third questions, they are looking for solutions to problems involving turns on a compass and a clock face. Providing these in the classroom (or drawing them) will assist children in visualising turns and finding possible solutions.

There are two similar parts to each question and an answer sheet provided for teachers and children marking their own work.

Varied fluency and fluency matrix resources are also available for this small step.
