If it's been awhile since your children have touched on anything to do with describing position or translation and you want to give them a quick recap, why not try this Year 5 Translation resource. It's a relatively simple resource that recaps the Year 2 Describe Position step, which should hopefully remind children of the key skills required to begin the Year 5 Translation step. Made up of six questions, three varied fluency and three reasoning and problem-solving, there is plenty for children to go at, and plenty of opportunity for you to check they are prepared to move on.

Curriculum Objectives

  • Use mathematical vocabulary to describe position, direction and movement, including movement in a straight line and distinguishing between rotation as a turn and in terms of right angles for quarter, half and three-quarter turns (clockwise and anticlockwise)
