This Year 6 Convert Metric Measures Varied Fluency resource will help your pupils develop their understanding of converting metric measures of length, mass and capacity. There are eight different varied fluency questions for children to complete, ensuring they have developed a clear understanding of the skill involved.

The resource is differentiated three ways, as shown below:

Developing: Questions involve converting numbers that are multiples of 5, with up to 1 decimal place.

Expected: Questions involve converting any number with up to 3 decimal places, sometimes including zero as a place holder.

Greater Depth: Questions involve converting any number with up to 3 decimal places, sometimes including zero as a place holder. Includes fractions and percentages to convert measurements.


Curriculum Objectives

  • Use, read, write and convert between standard units, converting measurements of length, mass, volume and time from a smaller unit of measure to a larger unit, and vice versa, using decimal notation to up to three decimal places
  • Solve problems involving the calculation and conversion of units of measure, using decimal notation up to three decimal places where appropriate
