Use this Year 6 Using Hyphens to Avoid Ambiguity Application and Reasoning worksheet to challenge your children to use a hyphen both within single words and between two words. It has been differentiated three ways to provide the correct level of challenge for all of your pupils. Learners are asked to identify if a hyphen has been used correctly in a sentence, rewrite a sentence with a hyphen and explain how a hyphen can change the meaning of a sentence.

With one application and two reasoning questions, these worksheets can be used individually or as part of small group or intervention work, with or without adult support. A full answer sheet is included to save you time.
