An image of the Long Division 4 Supporting Activity Resource

We're four steps into long division by now, and it's quite likely (and completely understandable) that some children might benefit from some support. So we've created this supporting activity, in the form of a game, that helps children place the need for long division with remainders into some context. The Year 6 Long Division with Remainders resource comes with a set of instructions and a list of required resources (so be sure to check beforehand) and enables any supporting adult to lead the task. Use in class as part of your lesson, or use as part of intervention - the choice is yours.

Curriculum Objectives

  • Divide numbers up to 4 digits by a two-digit whole number using the formal written method of long division, and interpret remainders as whole number remainders, fractions, or by rounding, as appropriate for the context
  • Solve problems involving addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
