Now that children are familiar with long division, it's time to teach how to apply that to numbers where the dividend causes a remainder!

This Year 6 Long Division with Remainders Discussion Problem will consolidate learning about how to divide numbers using long division that mean there is a remainder. Children will complete an investigation into how given digits can be used to create different long divisions, finding out which calculation gives the biggest or smallest remainder. Possible answers are given to make marking as easy as possible!

A reasoning and problem solving resource and varied fluency worksheet are also available for this small step.
