Give children the opportunity to consolidate their reasoning and problem solving skills with this Year 6 Use Line Graphs to Solve Problems resource. We've created two problem style questions and one reasoning style question for children to apply their skills to help them understand and interpret line graphs. For each question type, there are two examples to give your class multiple chances to put their reasoning and problem solving knowledge to the test. This resource has been differentiated three ways to support all learners. To find out how our differentiation caters for all ability levels, please see the brief outline below:
Developing: Questions to include two sets of data.
Expected: Questions to include three sets of data.
Greater Depth: Questions to include four sets of data.
This resource would make a great independently learning task that can be incorporated into your lessons. Alternatively, you could encourage mathematical thinking and discussion by using it as a small group activity for children to work out the answers together and discuss different strategies. A fully explained and easy to follow answer sheet is provided to aid your marking or assist children to peer or self mark their work too.
