Knowing how to budget is an important life skill and that's why we've created this KS1 and KS2 Shopping on a Budget resource. Differentiated six ways, children will learn how to stay within budget by comparing and calculating prices across different supermarkets. Questions range from adding and subtracting amounts worth less than £1 to calculating percentages and mean amounts worth less than £5. This resource can be used independently, in pairs or in small groups.

Curriculum Objectives

  • Solve simple problems in a practical context involving addition and subtraction of money of the same unit, including giving change
  • Add and subtract amounts of money to give change, using both £ and p in practical contexts
  • Compare different measures, including money in pounds and pence
  • Use all four operations to solve problems involving measure [for example, money] using decimal notation, including scaling
