Six differentiated sets of fun worksheets to practise synonyms by matching words to create a trail.

Differentiation:

Beginner Match each word to one that has the same or similar meaning. Words to be matched include: said, little, good, walk, bad, happy, sad, cold, hot, big, nice and ran. Aimed at Year 5 Emerging.

Easy Match each word to one that has the same or similar meaning. Words to be matched include: look, tasty, blazing, huge, yelled, small, super, crept, rotten, pleased, glum and frosty. Aimed at Year 5 Developing.

Tricky Match each word to one that has the same or similar meaning. Words to be matched include: giggle, petite, excellent, sped, scorching, gigantic, answered, cool, tearful, thrilled, horrible and watched. Aimed at Year 5 Secure/Year 6 Emerging.

Expert Match each word to one that has the same or similar meaning. Words to be matched include: beautiful, scared, peeped, immense, scalding, depressed, wicked, wander, amazing, wealthy, minute and begged. Aimed at Year 5 Mastery/Year 6 Developing.

Brainbox Match each word to one that has the same or similar meaning. Words to be matched include: gawped, alarmed, mammoth, stifling, desolate, distasteful, traipse, astounding, prosperous, miniscule, bellowed and exquisite. Aimed at Year 6 Secure.

Genius Match each word to one that has the same or similar meaning. Words to be matched include: insubordinate, courteous, tremendous, meandered, hideous, petrified, glowered, euphoric, humiliated, insignificant, beseech and valiant. Aimed at Year 6 Mastery.
