These questions have been taken from the 2018 KS1 GPS Test and the 2015 KS2 GPS Test (3-5) to help your children practise specific question types.

National Curriculum Objective 

Year 2 English: (2G3.2) Expanded noun phrases for description and specification [for example, the blue butterfly, plain flour, the man in the moon]

Year 4 English: (4G3.2) Noun phrases expanded by the addition of modifying adjectives, nouns and preposition phrases (e.g. the teacher expanded to: the strict maths teacher with curly hair)

Differentiation:

Beginner Tick the two nouns in the sentence. 4 choices, no adjectives. Aimed at Year 2 Secure/Year 3 Developing.

Easy Tick the two nouns in the sentence. 5 choices, some adjectives. Aimed at Year 2 Mastery/Year 3 Secure/Year 4 Emerging.

Tricky Tick the two nouns in the sentence. 5 choices, fronted adverbials. Aimed at Year 3 Mastery/Year 4 Developing.

Expert Tick the two nouns in the sentence. 5 choices, some ambiguity as nouns can also be used as verbs, e.g. practice and practise. Aimed at Year 4 Secure/Year 5 Emerging.
