Easy Identify speech between two characters in an extract from the text; identify who the speaker is; add inverted commas around the given speech at different points in the sentence; rewrite three sentence and place inverted commas in the correct place. Aimed at Year 3 Developing.

Tricky Rewrite the given speech sentences making sure the inverted commas are in the correct place; find and copy examples of speech from given pages; rewrite reported speech as direct speech. Aimed at Year 3 Secure/Year 4 Emerging.

Expert Rewrite the given speech sentences the correct punctuation; find and copy examples of speech from given pages; rewrite reported speech as direct speech, using appropriate punctuation. Aimed at Year 4 Developing.
