Use this Year 3 Compare Capacity and Volume Teaching PowerPoint to introduce and explain the necessary knowledge and skills. Pupils begin by using language such as "nearly full" and "half full", and comparing capacities and volumes visually. They move on to using measuring containers with different scales to measure and compare capacities and volumes. They are also shown how to use the symbols >, < and = for comparison. There are modelled questions and answers throughout which provide plenty of opportunities to address common misconceptions.
