This London Bridge provision enhancement resource includes a variety of activities for enhancing provision in the classroom. The activities can be used to support independent or adult-led play across 6 different areas of provision. Children will enjoy exploring and learning all about London Bridge. Each card includes helpful advice as well as questions that could be asked to prompt discussion.

Development Matters and Early Learning Goal Links:
3 and 4 year olds

Physical Development
Show a preference for a dominant hand.

Mathematics
Talk about and explore 2D and 3D shapes (for example, circles, rectangles, triangles and cuboids) using informal and mathematical language: ‘sides’, ‘corners’; ‘straight’, ‘flat’, ‘round’.
Make comparisons between objects relating to size, length, weight and capacity.
Select shapes appropriately: flat surfaces for building, a triangular prism for a roof etc.

Understanding the World
Show interest in different occupations.
Talk about the differences between materials and changes they notice.

Expressive Arts and Design
Explore different materials freely, to develop their ideas about how to use them and what to make.
Develop their own ideas and then decide which materials to use to express them.

Safely use and explore a variety of materials, tools and techniques, experimenting with colour, design, texture, form and function.
Share their creations, explaining the process they have used.
Make use of props and materials when role playing characters in narratives and stories.
